Acting as executors or administrators of estate

In practice the most important function is as an executor of estate. In contrast to the administrator of estate the executor is appointed by the testator in their will. The function of executor of estate is, specifically, to carry out and safeguard the instructions given by the testator and to be followed in the event of their demise. The executor must administer the legal estate; collect any claims owing to it and rectify any debts and the cost of the demise. The extent of the rights and obligations of the executor of estate depends primarily on the testator’s will.
